Famous as the first boat the late Sir Peter Blake ever built, the classic keel boat Bandit underwent a complete rebuild and refit at Yachting Developments prior to her upcoming entry to the Voyager NZ Maritime Museum in December 2016 where she will be on display beside the Americas Cup winning boat NZL32. Built in 1966 by a then 17-year old Blake and his brother, and launched in 1968, the yacht is owned by the Classic Yacht Charitable Trust.
Work done included the yacht being restored to her original specs with as much of the original fittings, rigging and sails being incorporated as possible. Yachting Developments bore the majority cost for the work on this piece of New Zealand's history, supplemented by a number of donations, in yet one more demonstration of the yard's passion and commitment to preservation of classic yachts.
