As long-term supporters of the South Pacific's premier superyacht regatta, The Millennium Cup, Yachting Developments is pleased to be returning once again as a sponsor of the 2017 edition of the event. Held for the third consecutive year in the stunning setting of the Bay of Islands the cup takes place over four days, running from 24-27 January 2017. A fleet of eight yachts is already signed up take part, including fellow long-term regatta participants 33.8m Silvertip, built by Yachting Developments in 2001, and Steinlager 2, which underwent a refit at the yard in 2014. With just over two months to go until racing kicks off we are looking forward to watching the racing and wish good luck to all the fleet.
Yachting Developments has a close association with the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS) and recently sponsored the RNZYS Match Racing Championships. Following a new format for 2016 the event saw more than 20 teams and over 100 competitors from both New Zealand and abroad compete in a fleet racing seeding series on identical Elliott 7 metre keelboats, before moving into a cut throat 16 team knockout Match Racing stage.
Congratulations to Chris Steele, Josh Salthouse, Harry Thurston and Harry Hull from 36 Below Racing on their overall win, retaining their title for the second year in a row. Yachting Developments was delighted to be part of the event and watch such a high standard of competition from all the teams. ""We are very pleased to have supported the event, we hope everyone had a great time and enjoyed the new regatta format,” says Ian Cook, Managing Director of Yachting Developments.
