Before (above) and after (below)
Relaunched in 2013, the restoration of Lady Shirley was a true labour of love. Launched in 1938 Lady Shirley had entered a state of disrepair before being purchased by Blanche Cook and taken to Yachting Developments. The yacht was painstakingly restored over many years, with many of the yard's apprentices learning restoration techniques from their work on the yacht - ensuring these skills are passed to the next generation. The yacht was gutted and stripped back to bare timbers, before being diagonally planked and sheathed in fibreglass, faired and painted. The exterior remains sympathetic to her original yacht, and the interior was completely redone by Yachting Developments' specialist upholstery team. The end result is a true testament of the skill of the restoration team, and will see the yacht have many years of life ahead of her.
